So, it all started when her great-grandson wanted to start a YouTube channel- CountryFoods. He wanted to showcase the traditional recipes and was looking for someone who can create those recipes in the most authentic style. That’s when he thought, who can be better than her granny? Because not just him, everyone around her loved her for her spirit and cooking skills
So, he approached her with the idea but she could not relate to it (for obvious reasons), infact she found it funny. But she still gave it a try and now she loves her new found stardom.
And, everyone who sees her can’t help falling in love with her infectious energy, warmth and of course her lip-smacking recipes.
Till now, this sensation has gained over 200,000 subscribers on her channel. We also appreciate her grandson-Laxman for his brilliant idea and execution. He swears by her eggplant/brinjal curry recipe, you should check it out too and since we loved her unique style of cooking, we have added one recipe here. Just like us, if you can’t say No to a desert but at the same time, keep worrying about your love handles, then, you are up for a surprise. Here is a recipe that is a treat for your senses. But, remember, moderation is the key. Do not go overboard with it, because we said, low-calorie not no-calorie.

Low-Calorie Cheese Cake

  1. Sugar             ¾ cup
  2. Unflavored gelatin             2 envelopes
  3. Eggs             3 separated
  4. Salt             ¼ teaspoon
  5. Skimmed milk             1 ½ cup
  6. Grated lemon rind 1 teaspoon
  7. Cottage cheese 3 cups
  8. Vanilla 1 teaspoon
  9. Lemon juice 3 tablespoon
  10. Graham cracker crumbs 1/3 cup


Mix the gelatin with the salt and six tablespoons of sugar in a double boiler over boiling water. Beat the egg yolks with the milk and then add it to the gelatin mixture. Keep stirring the mixture (for about 6 minutes) until it thickens slightly. Stop heating and then add the lemon rind. Chill the mixture until it mounds a bit when it is dropped from a spoon. While you are chilling the mixture, beat the cottage cheese at a high speed for about three minutes. Then add the vanilla and the lemon juice. Fold in the chilled gelatin mixture. Beat the egg whites till they are stiff but not dry. Then add the remaining sugar and beat it till it is very stiff. Fold into the gelatin mixture. Sprinkle the Graham cracker crumbs and turn into the pan. Chill it till its firm.

Low Calorie Banana Walnut Cake:

  1. Mashed bananas                     2/3 cup
  2. Softened butter                       ½ cup
  3. Water                                      ¾ cup
  4. Eggs                                        3
  5. Unbleached flour                    2 cups
  6. Baking powder                       2 teaspoon
  7. Cinnamon                               1 teaspoon
  8. Soda                                        1 teaspoon
  9. Raisins                                    ½ cup
  10. Chopped walnuts                    ½ cup


Beat the bananas and the butter until they are creamy. Add the eggs and water, and beat it well. Stir in the unbleached flour, baking powder, the soda and the other dry ingredients. Beat the mixture until it is smooth. Add the raisins and the nuts. Spread the batter evenly on to a floured and oiled 13 inch by 9 inch pan. Bake it at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Insert a knife and check whether it comes out clean. Cool and serve it in square cut pieces.
